About PawFigures
PawFigures builds free, interactive pet health calculators. The idea is simple: most pet health questions โ "is that amount of chocolate dangerous?", "how big will this puppy get?", "how old is my cat, really?" โ have answers that depend on your pet's numbers. A generic chart makes you do the maths. Our tools do it for you, and show their work.
Methodology
Every formula, dose and threshold on this site is taken from published veterinary references, and each page cites its sources. The ones we lean on most:
- Merck Veterinary Manual โ toxicity thresholds, drug dosing ranges, reproduction timing
- AAHA / AAFP life-stage guidelines โ feline life stages and care recommendations
- WSAVA growth standards and published growth-curve research โ puppy growth projections
Where a result is an estimate (like adult weight prediction), we show a range and say why it can be wrong, rather than pretending to precision the underlying science doesn't support. Where a result touches medication or toxicity, we use the cautious end of published ranges and tell you to call your vet โ because that's the correct answer at the margin.
What we are not
We are not veterinarians, and no calculator on this site is a substitute for one. These tools help you understand a situation and have a better conversation with your vet โ they do not diagnose, prescribe or treat. For anything urgent, the numbers to call are your local vet, the Pet Poison Helpline (855-764-7661) or ASPCA Animal Poison Control (888-426-4435).
How this site makes money
PawFigures is free and supported by advertising and affiliate links (marked as such) โ for example, links to pet insurance providers. Commissions never change a calculator's output, the prices we display, or the order of any comparison table.
Corrections
If you spot an error โ a threshold, a dose, a citation โ tell us. Corrections ship fast.
